New Iris version available

Mar 13, 2018
We published a new version of the Iris software. This release includes updates for the version of the Iris software (V5.5.0-Y2018S1) and the MUSE file (specV2018SR10-Muse), which includes the unicausal and multicausal tables. Previous version 5 releases have been tested thoroughly and detected errors have been corrected.

Version 5.5.0 includes also updates and user feedbacks. Nevertheless Iris/MUSE doesn’t process all cases automatically. The following cases should be manually revised after batch processing:

  • Post-procedural disorders (E89, G97, H59, H95, I97, K91, M96, N99)
  • Pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium (O00-O99)
  • Accidental poisoning (X40-X49)
  • Complications of medical and surgical care (Y40-Y84)
  • Sequelae of medical and surgical care (Y880-Y883)

Not all issues on the multiple cause rules could be solved yet, because a few issues are still under discussion in the Mortality Reference Group or Table Group. Some other items can be solved once accepted minor or major updates for 2019 will become valid.

If you detect other coding issues working properly with version 4.5.6 or previous versions, but not with version 5.5.0, please report to the Iris Institute. Keep in mind that many coding changes are related to new coding instructions (ICD-10 Volume 2, 2016). Iris version 5.5.0 implements these new coding rules. This version includes also updates for the unicausal and multicausal tables for 2018. You will find more information in the release notes.

Please note: The decision tables for Iris version 4 in 2017 were the final update for Iris version 4. The content and structure of files have changed for the decision tables in Iris version 5. Therefore it is no longer possible to provide decision tables updates for version 4.Please note: The decision tables for Iris version 4 in 2017 were the final update for Iris version 4.
