In Germany the OPS (German procedure classification, Prozedurenschlüssel) is used for classification of medical and surgical procedures.
The German procedure classification OPS(-301) (Operationenschlüssel according to § 301 SGB V) has been published by DIMDI on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Health. Its is used in German hospitals for coding of medical and surgical procedures. OPS is used in outpatient care since April 2005. more »
DIMDI observes current developments in the area of procedure classifications in several countries to find a substitute for OPS-301 in the future. The French "Classification commune des actes médicaux" (CCAM) and the US American "Procedure Coding System" (PCS) are undergoing evaluation as candidate classifications. more »
