Data Privacy Declaration

Protection of your personal data is of extreme importance to us. For this reason, we would like to inform you below as to which data we collect when you visit our website and the purpose for processing and using this information. As a general rule we only collect personal data that is absolutely essential. In this regard, your data is protected within the scope of statutory provisions.
We hereby expressly reject use of contact data published on our website by third parties (e.g. for transmitting marketing or information material not expressly requested). We reserve the right to take legal action in the case of unsolicited transmission of marketing information.

Web tracking/web analytics

In order to optimise our website, DIMDI uses the "Piwik" web tracking tool. It runs on our own server. Piwik is used in accordance with data protection as recommended by the Schleswig Holstein Independent Federal State Centre for Data Protection (Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein, ULD). IP addresses are anonymised immediately by Piwik, thus making visitor identification impossible. Anonymous statistical data are stored separately from any personal data you might have provided and cannot be traced back to specific persons.

Opting-out of web tracking

In addition, the "Do not track" function is activated in DIMDI's installation of Piwik. If this function is supported by your browser and it is activated, Piwik will not collect any data even if you do not use the above-named opt-out cookie.

Data collection when accessing our website

Any access to online DIMDI offers as well as any downloading of files is stored and processed in a log file for a limited period of time (exclusively for the purposes of defence and tracking of security-related accesses, error analysis and statistics).
The log file contains details on the:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Website from which you are visiting us (URL referrer)
  • Pages and files retrieved by you from our website
  • Website visited by you after visiting ours, where applicable (by clicking an external link on our website)
  • Date and time of your access
  • IP address, anonymized in an abbreviated form

In the case of DIMDI search applications, the search steps are temporarily stored in the logs, and in the case of premium access the customer number is recorded for error analyses.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer when calling up particular pages or certain functions. They cannot be allocated to particular persons and do not contain any personal data. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain any viruses.

To a large extent you can also make use of the DIMDI range of online offers without accepting cookies. When invoking our search applications and individual pages (e.g. in the download centre or when logging in to closed areas) so-called session cookies are however used to facilitate your use of the website. These temporary cookies are automatically deleted from your computer again once the browser session ends. Even if you deactivate the storing of cookies, you can use our search applications. However, in this case you will not be able to call up DIMDI ClassicSearch, and when searching without a contract, purchases by means of credit card are not possible.

You can prevent the storing of cookies on your computer via the settings in your browser. Please refer to your browser instructions for details in this regard.

Collection of personal data

To a large extent you can make use of the offers on our website without providing personal data. Insofar as we request personal data, this data is disclosed by users on a purely voluntary basis or on a legal basis. We store, process and use this data (form of address, name, postal address, email address etc.) exclusively for the purpose indicated, unless you authorise us to use same for another purpose.

Processing, use and deletion

Your personal data is only processed and used within DIMDI. Forwarding of this information to third parties only takes place with your prior approval or on a legal basis. In the case of literature orders resulting from our search applications, your registration data is forwarded to the relevant library.

We ensure that all provisions concerning data protection are observed by us and external service providers by way of technical and organisational measures. Furthermore, we immediately delete your data once it is no longer needed for the tasks required by DIMDI. Where this conflicts with statutory or contractual data retention periods, the data is blocked until it is deleted.

Newsletter and emails

If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter you must provide us with an email address. By doing so you agree that we may use your data for our newsletter. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose and, in particular, will not be forwarded to third parties. Naturally you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and revoke consent provided by you for future use. In this case, we will immediately delete your email address from our system. If you contact us via the contact form or via email, we use your data exclusively for corresponding with you.

Right to information

On request, you at all times have the right to establish details of your personal data stored by us and the purpose for which this is stored, where this data is derived from, and whether and to whom this data has been forwarded, where applicable.

Right of objection

You can object to the collection, processing or use of your personal data. In this case we will verify whether your interest is worthy of protection. To the extent that the interest outweighs DIMDI's interest in data collection, processing or use, the objection will be upheld. This does not apply where a legal obligation exists for collection, processing or use of the data.

Data protection officer

Your trust is important to us. Consequently, we will gladly provide you with information concerning the processing of your personal data. Please contact our data protection officer should this data privacy declaration not answer your questions or if you require further information:

Dr. Jochen Fingberg
Data protection officer
