Access to DIMDI ClassicSearch

With the DIMDI ClassicSearch you search either via web browser or telnet program. The features are the same. There are only a few small differences in the dialog process. See our DIMDI ClassicSearch instructions and manuals for further information.

Access via Web Browser

When accessing DIMDI ClassicSearch (command language) via web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), you can use DIMDI SmartSearch (graphic user interface) additionally, e.g. to activate service functions, such as sending documents by e-mail, standing orders or ordering full texts to a literature reference.

Access via Telnet

The database search can be accessed via a telnet program: telnet://grips.dimdi.de. Via telnet searches are only possible using the command language DIMDI ClassicSearch.

Please note that Microsoft removed the support for direct links to the telnet application beginning with Internet Explorer version 7. Using Microsoft Windows you will have to manually start the application and open the server connection. The following instructions apply analogously to other operating systems or telnet applications:

  • click the "Start"-button
  • choose the "Run ..." entry from the start menu
  • enter the command line "telnet grips.dimdi.de"
  • confirm wih the "OK"-button
