CAB-Abstracts and Global Health now with expanded thesaurus

The location of documents has now been optimised in the CAB-Abstracts and Global Health databases with the expansion of the updated keyword thesaurus. In addition, the thesaurus now includes new additional information to the keywords, such as the affiliation to chemical element groups, illnesses or plant groups.

The significantly extended thesaurus now contains the following new organisms:

  • 10,000 nematode species
  • A global list of birds, mammals, sucking lice (Anoplura) and trichodectid chewing lice (Mallophaga) together with their synonyms
  • 7,275 new insect species from the Medani database, containing species of veterinary and medical importance.

In addition, the existing taxonomic hierarchies in the thesaurus of dinoflagellates and algae have been completely reworked.

Beyond this, we have also incorporated various additional information in support of research that is described more closely with a keyword. This includes details of enzymes, chemical element groups, illnesses or plants with a nutritional relevance. This additional information can be displayed in DIMDI ClassicSearch using the command
D CT=KEYWORD(e.g. BACTERIA);ALL

The Global Health database contains verification from international literature regarding communicable diseases (including tropical diseases, HIV infections), epidemiology and healthcare. CAB Abstracts contains verification from international literature from the fields of agricultural science, including animal medicine, biotechnology, nutritional science and forestry, food science, human medicine and related fields.
