The LOINC® Database includes fields for the LOINC® codes and each of the six parts of the name of the LOINC® observations. In addition, it contains many synonyms, comments, and other information. Related words ("synonyms") are included to facilitate searches for individual laboratory test and clinical observation results. The LOINC® databases are available for downloading in several file formats which are described below. These are provided at no cost (see copyright statements). In each format, the first part of the file contains the copyright notice with permission to use the database for any purpose without charge or written permission. We have copyrighted the databases and this document to prevent multiple variants that would defeat the purpose of a universal identifier for test results.
